Cutting my Almond Pound Cake for the trifle

My Trifle complete. It was SO good!!

 

 For my trifle for Easter, I used bits of a Tastefully Simple recipe I found on the website for the Absolutely Almond Pound Cake and bits from a friends recipe that I had at one of her parties. Having the trifle at her party and having the pound cake on had gave me the idea to make this for Easter. I just made the pound cake and cubed it. Then made up vanilla pudding and mixed it with cool whip. Then layered pound cake, pudding / cool whip mixture, then cherry filling, then crushed Hershey bars. I did two layers then chilled before heading out to our Easter lunch. It was so good and easy. Will definitely be making again!!

I found this Easter egg garland on a craft blog that I like to look at. It was so fun to make and easy. Thanks to some paint color samples that I picked up. And I will have all sorts of color samples if I want to paint anything one of these colors :)

The adventures of Ty and Lane

I had forgot to post some "stories" of Lane's personality shining through!

Story #1. I had gotten some packs of strawberries and Lane loves strawberries!! Well I set the packs on the counter when we got home and then went downstairs to switch the laundry. When I came back upstairs this is what I find

In the time it took me to switch the laundry, Lane had pushed his little chair to the counter top and taken a bite out of half the strawberries in one pack. It was so cute to see him standing on his chair when I walked in the kitchen and the look on his face was like "I didnt do any thing" :)

Story #2. We got the boys 2 goldfish for Easter. The boys saw us putting them in the fish bowl and had helped feed them. Well Lane was eating some goldfish crackers and was in the kitchen. I had taken some stuff upstairs and when I came back he had his chair (once again his chair) and pushed it up to the counter and had thrown a handful of goldfish to the fish!! He just looked at me and smiled and said "feeding fish." The goldfish were eating them too.  So Im in rush mode to get them taken out and switched to new water as the goldfish just crumbled when I tried to take them out.

Story #3. Ty had named his fish Gelly. At first he named it Ty but I said well you don't want to name him your name, how about pick something else. So he picked Gelly (I think he heard it on Jake and the Neverland Pirates). Well his fish didnt make it much longer after the goldfish incident. So he saw that it was floating. So we flushed it down the toilet. As we are doing this Ty says "We have to flush him down to Heaven. To fish Heaven." Then Ty claimed Lane's fish and renamed him Sharker...well he only made it one more day and Ty said "We better flush him down to Fish Heaven too."

Just so fun hearing what kids say and this will be a good way for me to keep track!!

Easter 2011

What a beautiful weekend for Easter! The weather was wonderful! We had a few Easter get togethers with family and they boys had a lot of fun!.

It has been a while since I posted last!! We have a lot going on...getting ready for Spring. We have a greenhouse full of flowers and starting to get our first vegetables planted and seeded. Scott is building some garden furniture pieces and Im finishing up some crochet hat orders along with our day to day busy lives.

The boys are looking forward to going to the Easter Egg hunt this weekend at the park in town..just hoping the weather is decent! I'm ready for that 70 degree weather again!!
The following pictures are the boys coloring pictures for the coloring contest in town and their new hair cuts. Their hair was getting pretty long! Ty's we usually buzz so I thought lets see what Lane's looks like buzzed. Pretty darn cute!!!

Good days!

I'm not very good at picking my titles for each entry haha! Anyway....We have been keeping busy.
Today Lane had a check up at Riley, so Mom, Lane, and I headed down this morning and went to his appointment. He's doing well and we go back in 3 months for another follow up. They adjust his medicine with his growth. He was such a good boy today. He wanted to hold my hand and my mom's hand while we were walking today. It was so cute, so we walked 3 across all holding hands. He sure did not want to take his clothes off when it was time to get weighed and measured. Every dr appointment, he does this. Its weird how they remember. It isnt even anything bad...maybe kids remember that they threw a fit the previous time so they think that what they are supposed to do this time too. Regardless, he was great all day. On our way back from Indy, we stopped at JoAnn Fabrics...and well I could have stayed for hours!!
The boys have been sleeping in the same room. One night I let Lane fall asleep with Ty in his bed and since then, Ty has been sleeping on the daybed in Lane's room. Lane still in his crib. When we take them to bed they talk to each other for a while until they fall asleep. It is cute the conversations they have.
Its hard to believe that next week will be the middle of March already!! Im so ready for Spring. To work and play outside.
